Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.

Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.

This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This means them few options but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Questers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can anticipate learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
